Concession Confession

How many times a day do we persuade to ourselves that we can “make it” to the next checkpoint in time? “Just make it to the end of the work day.” “Just make it to tomorrow.” “Just make it to Friday.” “Just make it to payday.” “Just make it to next month.” “Just make it to my vacation.” “Just make it to summer.”

Personally, I’ve said all of these to myself many times before (quite recently, in fact). It gets old. Yet, I only have myself to blame. There is absolutely no reason why I should remain stuck in a rut when I am perfectly capable of pulling myself out of said rut. The biggest problem with conceding to ourselves that we can “fake it till we make it,” is that we actually start to fake out ourselves and believe we are doing “good enough” to keep on our current soul-sucking track. “Maybe I can keep doing this.” “Maybe this isn’t all that bad.” “The paycheck gets me by.” “Maybe this is as good as it gets.”

Get up right now. Go look in the mirror. Tell yourself to STOP SETTLING. Then, make a list. Write down your goals. Write down your dreams. Make a plan. Start taking baby steps...you don’t have to make any massive, sweeping changes to your life in order to start changing your life’s trajectory. Have bills to pay? Don’t quit your day job...just make sure you pursue your passion by night. If you’re going to grind, make the grind worth it and grind for your own passion! Never stop. Never settle.
